Reply to the following response with *** 300 words minimum, including direct questions to the post ***.   (please make response as if having a conversation, respond directly to some of the statements in below post.  This is not providing an analysis of the original post.  Respectfully address it and even ask clarifying or additional questions.)
Responding to a classmate’s post requires both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A particular point made by the classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in order to move the conversation forward. Reply posts that merely affirm, restate or unprofessionally quarrel with the previous post(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion will receive appropriate point deductions.

Determine the quality of your classmates’ chosen articles by comparing and contrasting the criteria they applied with the criteria you used to appraise your articles.

In the reading from Writing Analytically from this week, Rosenwasser and Stephen (2018) recognize nine of the basic writing mistakes and how the writer can go about correcting them. I personally found this chapter insightful and helpful as any writer can use this information when writing. In this paper, there were some mistakes that are clear, such as spelling errors and a few run-on sentences.
One mistake that appeared several times was the writer had fused sentences in the paper. In order to catch a fused sentence, the reader will need to read carefully at times to catch them. An example of this would be the following:
“ I think it is important for those people who the people trust with leading the government do a good job to meet everybodys needs, whatever kind they might be, this is what governments do, they solve everybodys needs so that everything is fair and everyone is equal” (Muss, 2009).
[Corrected sentence: I think it is important for the individuals trusted by the people with leading the government to do a good job in order to meet everyone’s needs, whatever those needs may be. This is what the government is supposed to do, they take care of everyone’s needs so that everything and everyone is considered fair and equal.]
Another mistake that was noticed, was that this paper had numerous spelling errors. The author also had a spelling error that hinders with the connotation of the sentence. An example of this error is the following:
“This is a good question because even though many people think they know what the purpose of government is, other people disagree and this sometimes can cause government to not be affective” (Muss, 2009).
[Corrected sentence: This is a good question because, even though many people think they know what the purpose of the government is, other people disagree, and this sometimes can cause the government to not be effective.]
An additional writing mistake that was obvious was the misuse of apostrophes within the writing. One example of this is the following sentence:
“The constitution gives people rights and let’s people be free to do what ever they want with their own lives. (constitution, 1776)” (Muss, 2009).
[Corrected sentence: The Constitution affords rights to American citizens and lets people be free to do whatever they want with their own lives].
Another basic writing error that was present in the paper that I caught was it appears that the writer struggles with the subject-verb agreement at times. This can be seen in the following example:
“Its a good thing that it’s purpose are written in the constitution so that the people can tell the government that it is supposed to do what the prople want for it to do” (Muss, 2009).
[Corrected sentence: It is beneficial that its purpose is written in the Constitution so that the people can tell the government that it is their responsibility to do what the people want.]
Finally, after having to read further into the paper it appears that the writer has certain shifts in sentence structure in some of the paragraphs. A reader would have to analyze the writing carefully to understand and catch this mistake. One of the obvious examples is the following:
“I think if government was doing everything it was supposed to be doing, more people would be equal in their jobs they have, more people would be equal in the how much money they make, more people would be equal in the house they live in, and more people would be treated equal in their lives” (Muss, 2009).
[Corrected sentence: If people were considered equal in life, they would hold equal positions in the workplace, receive equal pay and live in the same type of housing, then the government would be doing what it is supposed to.]
In the end, this chapter was very helpful in identifying the basic writing errors that writers tend to struggle with. To prevent these errors, writers should proofread their writing, have a peer review their writing, and if possible, submit their paper to a writing center for analysis.

Comma splices and fused sentences are one common type of Basic Writing Error (BWE) (Rosenwasser and Stephen 2019).
“This is a good question because even though many people think they know what the purpose of government is, other people disagree and this sometimes can cause government to not be affective.” (Muss 2009)
This is a good question. Even though many people think they know what the purpose of government is other people disagree, and this sometimes can cause government to not be affective. [Period added between independent clauses, comma and conjunction added]
“I think that even though America is a country that is equal everyone is not equal and it is the job of the government to make sure that that it makes everybody equal so that everything is fair, this is why we have the government, this is why we go to the voting poll to vote for people who will make the government better.” (Muss 2009)
I think that even though America is a country that is equal everyone is not equal. It is the job of the government to make sure that that it makes everybody equal so that everything is fair. This is why we have the government, and this is why we go to the voting poll to vote for people who will make the government better. [Period added between independent clauses, comma and conjunction added]
Error in subject/verb agreement is also a common BWE
“Its a good thing that it’s purpose are written in the constitution” (Muss 2009)
Its a good thing that it’s purpose is written in the constitution [Plural verb “are” changed to singular “is”]
Another BWE is error in using possessive apostrophes (Rosenwasser and Stephen 2019).
“The constitution gives people rights and let’s people be free to do what ever they want with their own lives. (constitution, 1776).” (Muss 2009)
The constitution gives people rights and lets people be free to do what ever they want with their own lives. (constitution, 1776). [improper apostrophe removed from “let’s”]
“Its a good thing that it’s purpose are written in the constitution so that the people can tell the government that it is supposed to do what the prople want for it to do.” (Muss 2009)
It’s a good thing that its purpose are written in the constitution so that the people can tell the government that it is supposed to do what the prople want for it to do. [Proper apostrophe added to contraction “It’s”, improper apostrophe removed from possessive “its”]
Another common BWE is error in pronoun preference (Rosenwasser and Stephen 2019).
“I think government is the worker that works for the people who tell them what they want them to do by the way they vote at the election poll.” (Muss 2009)
I think government is the worker that works for the people who tell it what they want it to do by the way they vote at the election poll. [Plural “them” changed to singular “it” because “Government” is singular and uses the singular verb “is”]
“People all are wanting to be equal and this menes that government must do what the people tell them to do.  Why else do people vote them in office? What good would it be if it did not do what the people want for it to do?  This is the best thing about how the founders of the constitution were hoping to make America work.” (Muss 2009)
People all are wanting to be equal and this menes that government must do what the people tell them to do.  Why else do people vote them in office? What good would it be if it did not do what the people want for it to do?  Public elections are the best thing about how the founders of the constitution were hoping to make America work. [“This” is a broad reference, changed to more specific “Public elections”]
Spelling and diction errors are also a BWE (Rosenwasser and Stephen 2019)
“…other people disagree and this sometimes can cause government to not be affective.” (Muss 2009)
…other people disagree and this sometimes can cause government to not be effective. [Affective changed to effective]
“I think this is why the people who rote the constitution…” (Muss 2009)
I think this is why the people who wrote the constitution… [Rote changed to wrote]
