Parent plays a crucial role in quality assessment and treatment. Consequently, they need to be honest with the child concerning the evaluation. For children between the ages of 9 and 11 years, it is crucial to give them accurate but measured information. It is vital to tell them some of the benefits for the appointment, reassure them that all will be well, and suggest that you may accompany them to the test. Children aged 12 years and above think more deeply about things and understand the consequences of right and wrong (Raising Children Network, 2019). Furthermore, it is essential to tell them about the changes in them that you have noticed, and reassure them that they will be safe with the test. Although the assessor and the teenager will be alone during the assessment to boost their confidence in sharing their stories, it is usually the parents who are given the test feedback. In the collaborative approach to feedback, however, the child may be given feedback, but in a modality that is emotionally and cognitively secure (Tharinger, Finn, Hersh, Wilkinson, Christopher, & Tran, 2008). The process assessor should protect the child and incorporate the parent’s new understand and changes in dedication within the client’s family.
