Mission, Vision, and Value Statements Your task for this assignment is to create a series of Mission, Vision, and Value statements for the following facility: Mountain Gem Healthcare is a non-profit 500 bed regional Medical Center associated with a major healthcare university in the intermountain west. The population served by this facility is largely urban, with a population base of 625,000 people. This facility is a leader in research across the healthcare spectrum, and provides hands-on training to students from a number of medical specialties and disciplines. The facility is divided into a number of departments including the following:
1. Orthopedics and Neurology 2. Oncology 3. Pediatrics 4. Endocrinology 5. Cardiology 6. ENT 7. Mental Health 8. Women’s Health (Combining OB/GYN Services) 9. Surgery
10. Emergency Services
Institutional priorities have been established as:
1. Patient Care 2. Quality Provider Training 3. Research 4. Community Service/Education Mountain Gem Healthcare currently utilizes an electronic health record, and has done so for the last 6 months. The HIM Department is comprised of three separate sections: 1. Clerical (Including activites such as ROI, Scanning/Indexing, and Record Completion) 2. Coding/Abstracting 3. Documentation Improvement/QI Based on the information provided above, you are to create a series of mission, vision, and values statements for both the facility at large, and the HIM Department. Your grade for this assignment will be determined in the following manner:
-Development of a hospital mission statement which meets the criteria as set forth in the lecture for chapter 4. (4 Points) -Development of a hospital vision statement which meets the criteria set forth in the lecture for chapter 4. (4 Points) -Development of a set of values statement for the hospital which meets the criteria set forth in the lecture for chapter 4. Two values should be espoused. (3 Points per Value) -Development of an HIM Department vision statement using the same guidelines as listed above. (5 Points) -Development of an HIM Department mission statement using the same guidelines as listed above. (5 Points)
