Purpose: In Essay #2, we practiced our close reading and argument skills by analyzing the relationship between words and meaning in the soliloquy of Hamlet. Essay #3 will further hone our critical analysis skills and close reading skills by considering how image, meaning, word, choice and diction add to a poemâ€s meaning.

Writing Task: After carefully reading the required texts and assigned poems, write a 4- 6 page thesis-driven essay that thoughtfully responds to the following prompt:
Analyze one poemâ€s literary elements (parts of the poem and figures of speech) and use this analysis to interpret the meaning of this poem.
In other words, what is the poem saying and what literary elements does the author use to demonstrate this message?
