Rational Emotive Behavior theory

Week 8 Discussion
Unlike it theoretical predecessors, Rational Emotive Behavior theory is based on philosophy. Albert Ellis, the founder and developer of REBT was interested in biological, social and psychological factors that make individuals vulnerable to psychological disturbances that are cognitive, behavioral, and emotional in nature. Ellis believed that irrational beliefs created disturbances in individual’s lives and these disturbances kept individuals from enjoying life.
For the purposes of this discussion, you will need to utilize the REBT Self-Help Form provided below. Then complete a personal assessment of a recent irrational episode using the A-B-C-D-E model. Once you have completed your personal assessment, share your findings (in A-B-C-D-E form) on the discussion board. Then, provide a brief discussion of your experience using this model on yourself.
While this discussion activity may be a bit uncomfortable, it is important to remember that as counselor’s, it is important that we continuously and purposefully committed to self-evaluation. I look forward to reading about your experiences. I have included the self-help form below for reference purposes. Make sure you accurately cite this form (APA format) in your discussion post.
