Visualizer-verbalizer dimension is depended upon cognitive ability, style, and learning preferences. visualizer-verbalizer is composed of visual aids or verbal cues to help the person according to their learning needs. The different categories help learners understand the methods that are going to benefit them the most. It is important for instructors to understand the difference and adjust the process accordingly.
Kolb’s theory involves a cycle in which learning is implied to a range of situations (Wallace 2019). The cycle starts with the experience, this is where a person is in the action or being present. This translates to reflection, the learner reviews and processes the information. Next is conceptualization, this concludes the learning of the new idea. Conceptualization leads to the action then being applied to new ideas. This is a continuous cycle that happens for every learning style.
Sternberg’s idea of triarchic theory is an interaction of three process that leads to an underlying behavior. The sub-theories emphasize analytic skills, creativity, and contextual skills (Sternberg 2018). These ultimately adapt as a person experiences the world around them. It was Sternberg that stressed the importance of individualized experience in a person’s behavior and intelligence.
Learning style impacts counseling by allowing individualism in each session. There is no right way to help others. The only thing that counselors can do is allow them to see mistakes and let them make the corrective actions. People must experience life different to what will work for them and the things that will lead to failure or hurt. Knowing the persons learning style can lead to quicker epiphanies.
