What is the minimum frequency of a photon to interact with an electron
to produce a positron-electron pair: (set h-bar equal to one)
e- + photon–> e- + e+ + e-
We didnt get the answer to this hw question, so I just want to check my answer: I used the rest mass-energy (E=mc^2) of the electrons and positron on the right minus the electon rest-mass energy on the left and the equated that to the photons KE (no rest mass because its massless). Then set this E to h-bar*w. If h-bar is one, than the frequency is just that energy? I get 1.202 [units?] The h-bar = 1 is throwing me off.
