Peace is only attainable through military strength

“Hereâ€s my strategy on the Cold War: we win; they lose.” ~Ronald Reagan

Ronald Regan went into office in 1981 with a stronghold towards conservatism during modern politics. The loss of the American’s rise to power leads to the Reagan Revolution which promised to change America’s vision and accept conservative views in order to move the United States forward. One of his main goals was cutting being able to cut government programs and taxes which would greatly impact the economy which was already falling apart slowly. According to the article From Cold War to Culture Wars, 1980-2000 “Many politicians, including Republicans, were wary of Reaganâ€s economic program; even his eventual vice president, George H. W. Bush, had referred to it as “voodoo economics” when competing with him for the Republican presidential nomination.” This piece of textual evidence suggests that everyone, including politicians, grew wary of his political agenda so they began to watch him closely in order to have a stable system of political power. During Reagan’s term, a crisis arose known as the Aids Crisis as well the war on drugs which was a fight against the new affordable, illegal drug known as crack cocaine which was a smokeable substance that targets youth groups and mainly were males.
RESPONSE 2
Peace is only attainable through military strength.
Today, I want go over a quote said by our 40th President Ronald Reagan to whom was elected in 1981 during the final 10 years of the Cold War. This famous quote Ronald Reagan said was “Hereâ€s my strategy on the Cold War: we win; they lose.” Which basically breaks down to Military Strength is the only way to have Peace. Ronald Reagan said and strongly in this statement and it not that far of from the Ideology of Theodore Rooseveltâ€s Big Stick Policy which President Roosevelt said “speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.” Which basically was to Peacefully communication between other foreign countries while using force when its necessary. There are many examples throughout history of this method working out for the better. A good example of This ideology being but it to play is The Great White Fleet. This was when a Fleet of American warships took a trip around world to display “a show of peaceful strength” (NationalGeografic.org). Another example of this and probably the most popular is the Panama Canal. This is when President Roosevelt used the Militaryâ€s peaceful strength to make a deal to make a Canal that ran through Panama for the passage of American ships. There a tons more examples of peace with Military Strength and I would say that I totally agree with this quote. This has clearly worked great in our past and of course all ideologies have there positives and negatives effects but I truly that this statement is true.
