The Global Citizens Project for this course consists of a 5-page paper that integrates insights from at least 7 (and no more than 10) peer-reviewed research articles. You will use the Broad Model of Interdisciplinary Process, following the detailed instructions provided in Chapters 10-12 and Appendix D of your textbook. Your paper will report on a environmental issue in a country other than the United States, report on the same environmental issue in the United States, and compare and contrast the way these environmental issues are addressed in each country. This Project will serve as the “final” substantive assessment in the course.
You will submit a document in MS Word or pdf format (only). To get started, I recommend that you complete the following tasks:
Review the “General Instructions for Preparing Written Assignments” section in the course Syllabus
Read Chapters 10-12 of your textbook
See the end of Appendix D of your textbook (pp. 383-387) for an example applying Step 5 and Step 6 of the Broad Model
Your Global Citizens Project should contain the following elements:
Title page
Introduction: approximately 1 page
State the research question and/or define the problem
Justify using an interdisciplinary approach
Literature Review: 3-4 pages
Identify relevant disciplines and provide a summary overview of the key insights from your 7-10 research articles
Critically analyze disciplinary insights into the problem and discuss their sources of conflict
Conclusion: approximately 1 page
Reflect on how using an interdisciplinary approach has provided a more comprehensive understanding of the problem
Provide a summary overview of the main highlights of your research
